About the event
Step & Skate is bringing the culture to the rink with a Memphis Style Skate Workshop, hosted ahead of Southern Roll weekend. This 2-hour, Memphis-style crash course is designed to introduce and sharpen the fundamentals of wall riding—the city’s most iconic skating technique; and Memphis' Jookin' on Skates—one of the most coveted skate styles in the world.
Led by seasoned veterans, this workshop breaks down the mechanics, rhythm, and flow behind two original Memphis styles -- WALL RIDIN' & MEMPHIS JOOKIN' ON SKATES.
WALL RIDIN' Participants will be guided through:
The rhythm and bounce unique to Memphis-style wall riding
Proper glide, balance, and body positioning
Memphis-style crossovers and directional flow
